Jacko began learning the piano at the age of six and delving into arrangement. In 2012, he achieved outstanding results in the Grade 8 piano examination from the Royal Academy of Music. He started learning the violin at the age of eight, initially under the tutelage of his mentor, Ms Cheung King Lam, and successfully attained Grade 8 in violin from the Royal Academy of Music with commendable results. At the age of fourteen, he furthered his studies with the renowned local violinist Mr Lung Heung Fai, earning a diploma (LTCL) from Trinity College London with excellent results. Additionally, he has won numerous championships at the Hong Kong Inter-School Music Festival and achieved third place in the performance category at the Hong Kong Youth Catania Music Competition. He graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in violin, under the guidance of the renowned Italian violinist Gian Paolo Peloso.
Jacko is also active in various performances. He has performed as a solo violinist in Budapest, Hungary, collaborating with the MAV Symphony Orchestra, where he played Henryk Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 1. He has been a member of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and the Millennium Youth Orchestra as a violinist. Since 2017, he has been part of the piano trio J’s Trio, playing both piano and violin, and has collaborated with local singer-songwriter Chet Lam and composer Peter Kam. He has also served as a pianist for TVB’s “STARS Junior Academy” In 2024, he will be responsible for orchestral arrangements for singer Jay Fung’s concert.
